Axel: Figure Skating is a learn-to-skate and skills tracker for recreational, adult and returning skaters. Explore 159 skills across 24 progressive tiers, watch skill animations on beginner tiers, log sessions, track blade hours and attach practice video to skills for analysis.
Use Axel between lessons as a technique reference and practice log. It does not replace qualified instruction, assess your technique for you or confer a formal qualification.
Skill animations on Basic and Novice tiers
Skill animations show each movement step by step, with skate lines traced on the ice. They are free on Basic 1–2 and Novice 1–3. Axel Pro unlocks skill animations on every tier above Novice 3.
Sessions and practice video
Log how long you skated, add notes and attach practice video to the skill you were working on. Review attempts over time without digging through your camera roll. Your practice library is device-local, not a cloud backup.
Blade hours and sharpening
Every session adds time on ice to the pair of skates you wore. Set a sharpen interval per blade and Axel shows a warning when a pair reaches it. Mark sharpened to reset the count. Some supported rinks offer in-app sharpening where available; availability varies by rink.

How does Axel track blade sharpening?
Logged session hours add to each pair of skates. Axel shows a warning in the app when blade hours reach your interval. It does not send push notifications for sharpening until that behaviour is confirmed.
